WITNESS “Make My Life a Bethlehem” Voices of Praise
HYMN #180 “What Child is This?”
1-What child is this, who, laid to rest, on Mary’s lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, while shepherds watch are keeping? CHORUS-This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring him laud, the Babe, the son of Mary. CHORUS
3-So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh, come peasant, king, to own him. The King of kings salvation brings, let loving hearts enthrone him. CHORUS
FROM THE WORD John 1:1-4, 14
HYMN #178 “O Little Town of Bethlehem”
1-O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by. Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light. The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
2-For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above, while mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love. O morning stars, together, proclaim the holy birth. And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth.
4-O holy Child of Bethlehem! Descend on us, we pray. Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell. O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel.

FROM THE WORD “Learning from Joseph” Matthew 1:18-25
1-Christmas has its cradle, where a baby cried; did the lantern’s shadow show him crucified? Did he foresee darkly his life’s willing loss? Christmas has its cradle and Easter has its cross.
2-Christmas has its cradle, shepherds came to see, little Son of Mary, Lamb of God to be. Had his Father warned him, none would grant him room, save in the Christmas cradle and in the Easter tomb?
3-Christmas has its cradle, wise men came to bring myrrh and gold and incense, off’rings for a King. Myrrh alone stayed with him, death’s balm for this boy, from the Christmas cradle and to his Easter joy.
4-Christmas has its cradle, where that baby cried; in the Easter garden, Christ lay, crucified. When death’s pow’r was conquer’d, God’s life through him poured, Christmas has its cradle and Easter has its Lord.
SERVING ONE ANOTHER
1-Enter the gate, walk to the place, and meet the infant Jesus who will change the world. Come and adore on Christmas day and see the eyes of one who so loved the world. CHORUS-Heaven smiles when the angels sing, glory to God, the infant king. Peace on the earth, let the echo ring, Messiah God, the infant king.
2-Come with your gift or all you have and lay them at the altar of eternal life. Jesus the Son of his Father’s hand, the author and the maker of the gift of life. CHORUS
Hark (hark), hark (hark) the angels sing, glory to the newborn king.
Hark (hark), hark (hark) creation sings, glory to the infant king.
